Celebrate the day with your favorite live Beatles covers and 60’s-themed art activities and classes.
The Sawdust Art Festival presents its festive Beatles Day this Saturday, August 17 from 10 am to 10 pm. Beatles classics will be covered on musical entertainment stages throughout the day, ‘60s era art and craft projects will be featured at the Children’s Art Spot and Studio One, and Euro Specials will be offered at the Sawdust Saloon.
Highlights of Beatles Day include Beatles themed art and craft projects: Beatles Magnets – Create a Beatles magnet for your fridge using media images, glue and foam board with Sawdust artist Rosanne Nitti. 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Studio One, complimentary with admission, ages 6 and up; 60’s Drawing – Draw a real life 1960’s model with Sawdust artist Deborah Paswaters, 1 to 3 p.m. at Studio One, complimentary with admission, ages 6 and up; Sharpie Tie-Dye – Learn a clever tie-dye method using Sharpies and rubbing alcohol on fabric with Lylah Jarvis. 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Studio One, complimentary with admission, ages 6 and up.
Additional Beatles themed art and craft projects include Dye Drop Headbands – Make a characterful 60’s headband using an eyedropper to dye fabric. 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Studio One, complimentary with admission, ages 4 and up; Octopus’ Garden – Create an imaginative underwater garden using construction paper, temper and oil pastels. 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Children’s Art Spot, complimentary with admission, ages 4 to 10. Yellow Submarine – Make a jolly yellow submarine using construction paper, paint and oil pastels. 3 to 5:30 p.m. at Children’s Art Spot, complimentary with admission, ages 4 and up.
Musical entertainers performing Beatles covers: The Beatroots – 12 to 4:30 p.m. on the Main Entertainment Deck; George Lawton – 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Grill stage; Eddie Allen –11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tavern stage; Jim & Warren – 5 to 9:30 p.m. at the Grill stage; and Really Classic – 5 to 9:30 p.m. at the Tavern stage.
The Sawdust Saloon will be offering Euro Specials during Beatles Day – 16 oz. Hoegaarden and Stella Artois for $5.
